PROLOGUE
INT. FELICITY'S APARTMENT
Felicity opens the shade to her window, and she looks outside.
Felicity: (recording) Dear Sally, I don't blame New York. I love New York. But something happened the other day that was....very....New York.
EXT. SUBWAY
Cut to subway stairway leading to the street. Ben and Felicity walks up the stairs.
Ben: So you haven't taken the two or three?
Felicity: No.
Ben: It's great, because you can go from Battery Park to 72nd in, like, five seconds.
Felicity: Really?
Ben: Yeah. But it takes you out way west, so....
Felicity: (recording) I mean, first of all, the only times Ben and I really hung out was when I was helping him with assignments. And even then, we never really had, you know, conversations.
Ben: So, are you, uh, going to keep your job in the admissions office?
Felicity: Yeah. I have to get another one actually, to help pay for everything.
They walk up steps to Ben's building.
Felicity: I have an interview tomorrow at Dean and Deluca.
Ben: Oh, yeah. That could be good.
Felicity: Yeah? Have you been there?
Ben: No.
Cut to elevator. Ben lifts the gate.
Felicity: (recording) I mean, it--it wasn't like I didn't want to help Ben,
Ben and Felicity walks out into the apartment. They discuss amongst - unaudible.
Felicity: (recording)....but things weren't getting to the next level, you know? You know, deepening.
Ben: ...it's messy, I don't know what that's about.
Felicity: Amazing.
A robber comes out from behind Felicity and runs into both of them.
Robber #1: Don't turn around!
Another robber grabs Felicity from the other side.
Robber #2: Get down now!
Felicity: (panick) Let go!
Robber #1: Don't look at me!
Another robber makes his way down the stairs. Ben is pinned face first. Robber #2 cocks the gun. Robber #1 cocks his gun and holds it in front of a pinned Felicity.
Robber #1: Don't look at me. Look straight ahead!
Glass shatters in the background.
Robber #2: Get the stuff.
Robber #3 jumps down from the stairs and walks towards the others. Another guy comes down the stairs with a boombox. He passes in front of Ben face. Cut to Felicity. Her necklace is yanked off her.
Felicity: (panic) No! Ben: Don't!
A robber clocks Ben over the head. He grunts in pain.
Felicity: Ben! Ben!
A scared Felicity watches the guys leave with stuff. Fade to black.

PART ONE
INT. BEN'S APARTMENT
Scene opens at Ben's apartment. In the background, NYPD officers search the apartment. Flashes from the camera luminate the room. Felicity and Ben, blankly, sit on the couch. The detective stops in front of them.
Detective: I need ya to come to the, uh, precinct. You know, it's not far. You look through some pictures, see if you recognize anyone. Uh, tomorrow morning be alright for ya?
Felicity: Sure.
Detective: How 'bout you, kid? Can you make it?
Ben: Yeah. (grasps his stomach)
Detective: Your stomach all right? You wanna be checked?
Ben: No, it's fine. Yeah, I'm fine. It's just bruised.
Detective: All right. (to Felicity) I give you a ride, uh, back to the dorm?
An uncertain Felicity look over at Ben for approval.
Felicity: Um.....
Ben: Um, no that's a good idea. You should go ahead.
Felicity: Are you sure?
Ben: Yeah, you should go.
Felicity nods to the detective and gets up. She turns to Ben.
Felicity: Um...well, I'll call you later and--and we can go over that assignment.
Ben: Ok.
Felicity heads out. The Detective follows
Detective: Frank check everything out all right? (to Felicity) All right. This way. (leaves)
Ben remains on the couch in thought.
Cut to Felicity/Meghan's dorm room.
Meghan: I heard there were shots fired.
Meghan, Julie, Noel, and Elena crowd in the room. The all scramble for answers concerning Felicity.
Julie: (pleaing for an answer) Are you serious! Are--are you being seriously...do you know that for a fact or not?
Noel: (in a panic) You heard what!? You heard there where shots? Did you hear someone was shot?
Meghan: (exhasperated) Some guy in the mailroom said, "Congratulations." I said, "Why?" He said, "Because you now have the largest single on campus."
Elena: Some people are so damn sick.
Noel: All right, I'm going over there. Someone should stay here, in case, she comes back.
The phone rings. Julie dashes to answer the phone.
Julie: Hello? Hi, Mr. Porter. (looks at the others) Uh, no, it's--it's Julie. Is Felicity here? (Noel raises his eyebrow) Um...no. But.....look, here--here's Noel.
Julie picks up the phone and points it to Noel. He silently questions her motive. Julie insists he take it and reluctantly he takes it.
Noel: (exhales) Mr. Porter. Hi, this is Noel. That's right. (Meghan and Elena pass behind him) Thank you, yeah. Things are fine.
Meghan scopes out Felicity's side of the room.
Noel: Uh, well, they'd be a lot better if I didn't have to read Ulyesses.
Elena: (to Meghan) What are you doing?
Meghan: What? (turns to face her)
Elena: You're checking out her side of the room aren't you?
Meghan: (disgusted) I am not! (walks back to her window)
Noel: Um...uh, no, Felicity isn't-isn't here right now.
Julie mouths what he should not say to Mr. Porter.
Noel: Um...we're--we're just hanging out, uh, waiting for you daughter.
Felicity comes back and stunned to see the gang.. Noel hangs up the phone, and they all rush her with concern.
Noel: Are you ok?
Felicity: Um...you heard already?
Noel: Yeah. Was someone shot?
Felicity: Um...no one was shot. We're ok. We were lucky.
Elena: (to Megan, condesending) Don't you look disappointed.
Meghan: Shut up!
Phone rings.
Noel: Oh, that's going to be your dad.
Meghan: (to Elena) Stay off my side. (leaves)
Felicity answers the phone.
Felicity: Hello? Hi Dad. Um....I'm fine. There's just a lot of people in my room right now. Can you hang on just for a minute? (turns to the gang) I'm fine. I swear.
They take one last look at her before leaving. She turns back around.
Felicity: (in phone) Hi.
Cut to Ben's Apartment.
Sean comes down the stairs and toward the island.
Sean: I don't believe it. I don't -- do you know what they took? My idea book.
Paul: Your what?
Sean: You know, I was writing in that black notebook.
Paul: I haven't noticed. (to Ben) (holds shoe up) Ben is this yours.
Ben: (fixing a salad) Yeah. Just leave it, I'll get it later.
Sean: Every great business idea, I've had over the last four years went into that book. Proposals, logos, and sketchs, I mean what, it was like my safety deposit box. It was my future.
Paul: You can still write them down.
Sean: I can't remember every genius entrepreneur idea I've ever had. The UFO story 900 number, the--the mini quick carwash. I mean, there were hundreds. There--there was no way of--of stopping these guys? I mean, did--did you even, you know, think about, uh, trying. (Ben, hurt, walks off) Oh....damn it, I'm sorry.
Felicity sits on the couch, while Noel, Julie, and Elena listen to the story.
Esteroplays in the background.
Felicity: It was surreal, you know? And--and then I looked up and--and I saw his face, and it was like...there is a real person, pointing a real gun at me.
Julie: Yeah. I--I would have lost it. I would have started screaming. I would have wet my pants and started screaming.
Noel: A homeless guy pushed me over once. Ruined my birthday cake.
Felicity, Julie, Elena: What? Noel: That's the closest I've ever come to gettin' robbed. I was twelve, it was weird.
Elena: For a woman...having a gun pointed at you, is a whole different thing.
Felicity: Has that happened to you?
Elena: Yeah. A couple of years ago, I was mugged. Which really pissed me off.
Julie smirks.
Zack walking into the common room.
Felicity: Pink guy, 12 o'clock.
Not understanding, Julie leans toward Felicity.
Zack: Hey. Hey, I heard about what happened. Are you ok?
Felicity: Yeah, yeah. It was just, um...a little scary.
Zack: Yeah, I got held up at knife point once, so....(to Julie) Could I, um, talk to you?
Julie: Sure. (to Felicity) I'll be right back. (gets up).
Zack and Julie walk off. Noel kneels down next to Felicity.
Noel: So, what did the cops say?
Felicity: Uh, Ben and I have to go down to the police station. Go through some mug shots. (nods)
Noel: Oh, really? That's good. (nods) Yeah.
Zack and Julie sit down in one corner of the common room. With silent enthusiasm, Julie smiles at Zack.
Zack: Have you ever seen the Exorcist?
Julie: No. (a beat) How come?
Zack: They're showing it at the film society, like a, Halloween special.
Julie: Oh.
Zack: And I haven't seen it in a long time.
Julie: No, um...me neither.
Zack: So, you don't want to?
Julie: What?
Zack: Go.
Julie: Are you inviting me?
Zack: Didn't I?
Julie: Not yet.
Zack: Ah, I'm sorry. It's tommorrow night. I think we should -- do you want to go?
Julie: Sure.
Zack: Really?
Julie smiles and nods.
Felicity's room -- night.
Thunder rumbles in the skys of New York City. Rain runs down Felicity's window. She tosses and turns in her bed. The phone rings. She gets out of bed, and holds the phone.
Felicity: (answer) Hello?
Ben: Hey, it's Ben. Um...what are you doing?
Felicity: What?
Ben: Are you asleep?
Felicity: No.
Ben: Ok, cause, I'm, uh, downstairs.
A smile forms on Felicity face. Cut to Ben in elevator. Ben steps out into the common room. He stops as Felicity meets him.
Ben: Hey....
Felicity: Hey. So, it's after two.
Ben: Yeah, I know. I know. It's just, uh, I thought you might be a little shaken up. I just wanted to come by and see that if you were ok. Make sure you're ok.
Felicity speechless and nervously looks away from him.
Felicity: (recording) I remember reading somewhere that, --
In the darkened room, Felicity and Ben sit in the window box talking.
Felicity: (recording) -- that soldier who have been through battle, that they have somekind of special bond because, you know, they survived it. I never really knew what that meant, before last night.
PART TWO
INT. Dean & Deluca
A happy Felicity, playing with a pen, stands at the lunch counter of Dean & Deluca. The manager impatiently looks at Felicity. She nervously smiles.
Felicity: Sorry. (hands him the pen).
Manager: Do you drink a lot of coffee?
Felicity: No. I just... I had a really amazing night last night.
Manager: (interested) Really!? (a beat) Wh--what happened.
Felicity: I was almost killed.
Manager: Oh....no....
Felicity: Yeah, in a robbery. Yeah. But then I stayed up all night with this guy who I sort of liked for a really long time. So....
Manager: Oh, that's an amazing feeling, isn't it?
Felicity: Oh, my God!
Manager: I know, I know. (a beat, picks up the application) What is, uh, "Perfectly Me"
Felicity: Oh, uh, my junior year, I worked there. It's a clothing store for women sizes 16 and up. It was really nice. They had some great stuff.
Manager: They didn't hate you?
Felicity: Who?
Manager: The fat women.
Felicity: Uh, they weren't fat.
Manager: Size 16 and up.
Felicity: I really liked working there.
Manager: Can you be here tomorrow at noon?
Felicity: Does that mean I got the job?
Manager: If you want it.
Felicity: (happy) Cool!(smiles)
INT. MEN’S RESTROOM
Noel looks in the mirror. Elena walks in with a cardboard witch. Noel pauses and puts on shaving cream.
Elena: What's this?! (holds up witch) It was on my door.
Noel: Yeah that. I, uh....this is a men's room.
Elena looks behind her and back at Noel.
Elena: Alice says you put it there.
Noel: Yeah, it's lame I know, but the university asked all the R.A.'s to decorate for Halloween. So.....
Elena: So, I get a witch?
Noel: Is that a problem?
Elena: I could get a skeleton, a pumpkin, a ghost, but I get a witch?
A guy looks at Elena, and she sees him in the mirror. She turns to him.
Elena: It's cool. I'm with him.
Noel: Would you feel more comfortable with a pumpkin?
Elena: I hate Halloween. I don't think anyone really likes Halloween.
Noel: No. I like Halloween.
Elena: I don't believe you.
Noel: What motive would I have to lie about that? Wh-what are you doing...for Halloween?
Elena: I have work to do.
Noel: We all have work to do.
Elena: Yeah, but I actually do mine.
Noel: Uh-huh. Well, I'm going to that party. Do you want to go?
Elena: Yeah.
INT. NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT
Felicity and Ben sit at a desk looking through mugshot books.
Felicity: The detective said we should take our time.
Ben: Yeah, it's just none of these guy look familiar to me.
Felicity: Well, you can't tell that if you're not really looking.
Ben glares at Felicity. She looks back through the book. The Detective walks in.
Detective: You got anything so far?
Ben: No.
Felicity: Um...I found one. (flips the book toward the detective) He looks like this guy, sort of, except, um, maybe ten years younger, and maybe twenty pound thinner.
Ben: Um, besides that.
Felicity: It gives them an idea.
Detective: (to Ben) Uh...how 'bout you. You find anything?
Ben: No, I got nothing. Ahem, actually you know, I gotta get going.
Felicity: Are you serious?
Ben: Yeah, I'm supposed to meet Paul. So....(gets up)
Detective: Well, you can come back tomorrow.
Ben: Yeah. Tomorrow's much better for me. Much better. (to Felicity) Um, but I'm gonna see you later though, all right?
Felicity: (disappointed) Sure.
Detective: (to Felicity) You know this process is difficult for some people, you know.
Felicity: Apparently.
INT. FILM SOCIETY THEATER
Cut to Film Society theater. Floods of people emerge from the underground exit to the street. A guy stands on the street handing out flyers about a petrified forest. Julie and Zack walk out.
Money Mark: Push the Buttonplays in the background.
Julie: Thank you so much.
Zack: For what?
Julie: For not getting mad at me when I spilled Coke all over you. (giggles)
Zack: Yeah. That stuff's scary.
Julie: And for letting me hold your hand.
Zack: Yeah, that was -- that was fine.
Julie: When she started talking like the priest's mother -- it was like -- oh, my god, forget it.
Zack: Yeah, the guy who did the makeup, Dick Smith. He 's like the mentor now to all these famous makeup guys. Have you heard of Rick Baker?
Julie: No. (shivers)
Zack: Oh, here.
He takes off his jacket and puts it around Julie. She giggles.
Julie: Thanks.
Zack: No problem. It got cold.
Julie: It did, it really did.
A girl tries to get pass her, Julie moves.
Julie: Oh, sorry.
Zack: Are you -- are you hungry.
Julie: Starved.
Zack: Good. Let's find a place.
Julie: Ok. (leads the way, Zack follows)
Cut to Felicity reading a book.
Felicity: (reading) "I was a child, and she was a child in this kingdom by the sea....but we loved the love that was more then a love...that was more then a love...that was more then a love.
Phone rings. Felicity quickly answers it.
Felicity: (answers) Hello?
Ben: Hey.
Felicity: Hey, what's going on?
Ben: I'm, um, downstairs again.
INT. HALLWAY
Cut to hallway, Felicity quietly closes her door. She quietly walks down the hall, and pauses as she nears Noel's room. She takes a breath and tries to get past his door. Noel pops out of his room. Felicity stops.
Noel: Hey.
Felicity: Hey.
Noel: Are you going out?
Felicity: Yeah.
Noel: It's kind of late.
Felicity: Uh, I can't sleep, so....
Noel: Are you going alone?
Felicity: Noel....
Noel: Ok, just be careful.
Felicity: I will. (leaves)
Cut to Ben's apartment.
Felicity and Ben sit on the floor carving pumpkins.
Felicity: The last time I did this, I went trick-or-treating as Yurtle the Turtle.
Ben: When was that, like, a couple of years ago?
Felicity: I was ten. My mom made the shell out of cardboard and green felt. It was actually a pretty cool costume.
Ben: Yeah, it sounds nice. (they laugh) (looks at his pumpkin) These should be good for the party.
Felicity: So Sean throws this every Halloween?
Ben: I guess so, yeah. Had to go buy a new stereo, though, you know, 'cause they took the old one.
Felicity: Yeah.
Ben: Yeah. But you gotta come.
Felicity: Are you dressing up?
Ben: Yeah. Frankenstein. I'm thinking about it, or is that, uh, too stupid?
Felicity: No. I think that's good. (a beat) I could, uh, you know...
Ben: What?
Felicity: You know the Bride of Frankenstein? I could....
Ben: With that streak in the hair thing? Yeah, that's good. Oh, yeah, we'll hang out. It'll be fun.
Felicity: So, why'd you leave the police station?
Ben: What do you mean?
Felicity: Were you upset or anything?
Ben: No. No, I was fine.
Felicity: I don't know how I'm going to tell my mom about that necklace. My grandmother gave it to her when she was thirteen. Then when I turned thirteen, my mom gave it to me. She said it was good luck, which is kind of ironic, huh?
Ben: Yeah, I haven't felt that way in a long time.
Felicity: Which way?
Ben: Just, you know, when it was happening.
Felicity: You felt that way before?
Ben: Well, not exactly like that, no. Let's try these out.
Ben grabs and candle and lits it.
Felicity: Wh-what do you mean you haven't felt that way for a long time?
Ben: Nothing. I don't know, nothing. I was just talking.
Ben lights another candle. They put the candles in the pumpkins. They chuckle. They put them together.
Ben: Yes.
Felicity moves next to Ben. They laugh at their pumpkins.
Ben: Well, your's is amazing. But look at mine.
Felicity: I love yours.
Ben: Well, I don't.
Awkard silence.
Felicity: You know how they talk about when you die, um, how your supposed to see your life flash before your eyes. But when we were lying there on the floor, I didn't see my whole life, but I had these-these stupid concerns, you know like, if we died, we weren't going to finish our assignment. (they chuckle) Like, that matters. Or if I died, I definitely wouldn't get that job at Dean and Deluca. Of how I'd never know what I got on my chem lab. Well, that's what I was thinking.
Ben: Yeah.
Felicity looks back down, while Ben looks at her with a different eye.
Ben: You know growing up was always really weird with my dad. You never knew what was going to set him off. (exhales) I mean, alcohol was pretty obvious was the problem, aside from that I could never tell. But it--it was like living with a ticking time bomb. I came here in someway to not to feel like that again, 'cause I was so sick of feeling unsafe. Imagine -- (laughs) imagine moving to New York to feel safe.
Sean enters the room and turns on the light. They look up.
Ben: Hey.
Sean: Hey. Wow, those look great. Man.....(sees the food) Oh, you're a genius. (rushes for the food) Is this Taste of Tokyo?
Ben: Yeah. Take it.
Sean: (takes the food) Oh, yes. (Eating) So, what's going on?
Ben: Nothing. We were just finishing up. Um, can you call Felicity a cab?
Sean: Yeah.
Ben: I'll walk you down.
Felicity looks hiddenly upset.
Cut to Ben opening the door. Felicity looks at Ben
Felicity: Are--Are you ok?
Ben: Yeah. I'm just tired.
They walk out onto the street.
Felicity: Are you sure. Because we can talk somemore. I mean, I'm already going to be exhausted tomorrow anyway.
A yellow cab pulls up.
Ben: No, I'm fine. I just need some sleep.
Felicity: Ok.
Ben: Yeah. (opens the cab door)
Felicity: I'm really looking forward to the party.
Ben: Yeah. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be good.
He closes the door, and waves her off. He watches as the cab drives off.
PART THREE
INT. NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT
Felicity sits blankly on a bench outside the detective's office.
Felicity: (recording) Ben was supposed to meet me at the police station. We were going to go through some more mugshots, and then go get something to eat. We even talk about going up to Central Park, but he just didn't show.
The detective comes out and looks around for Ben.
Detective: Has he shown up yet?
Felicity: He knew ten o'clock. Um, maybe I should just go ahead and look at the files myself.
Detective: Yeah, yeah, come on in. Right in here.
Felicity gets up and follows the detective.
Detective: Sit over there.
INT. ELENA’S ROOM
Cut to Elena's room.
Noel stands in her doorway.
Elena: So, about yesterday... I didn't mean to freak out about the cardboard witch, ok?
Noel: No, it's fine.
Elena: My father never let us go out for Halloween. He thought it was dangerous.
Noel: Uh--huh. (opening a garment bag)
Elena: So...I never really go the stupid holiday, you know?
Noel holds up a full Subway outfit complete with cap and apron.
Elena: What are those?
Noel: Our costumes.
Elena: We're going as Subway employees?
Noel: I think it's funny.
Elena: You do?
Noel: Yeah. My buddy Ed manages the one on 7th Avenue. Why do you look so disappointed?
Elena: Because I hate Halloween.
Noel: Look, I gotta go to the third floor. There's an emergency R.A. meeting about bulimia or something. Um....put this on, and....I'll meet you at the party.
Elena: You want me to go alone?
Noel: I'll be there in an hour. (Noel walks off)
Elena looks at her uniform in disgust.
INT. HALLOWEEN PARTY
People are dancing on the stairwell outside the building.
Liz Phair blares throughout the building.
Cut to inside the party, people grab food and fill up their plates. Julie and Felicity walk through the party arms locked.
Felicity: Ben!
Cut to Frankenstein drinking.
Felicity: Hey, Frankenstein.
Frankenstein stops and looks at her.
Felicity: Ben?
Andrew: (lifts off the mask) Andrew.
Felicity: Oh, God. I'm so sorry. I thought you were Ben.
Julie: There they are. (tugs on Felicity)
Felicity looks up to see Ben talking to Zack. Ben is dressed in a nice pinstrip suit. Julie leads Felicity through the crowd.
Zack: Yeah, a little.
Felicity: Hi.
Ben: Hey, how's it going?
Felicity: Um, what happened to Frankenstein?
Ben: What?
Zack: (to Julie) Hey, you wanna get a drink?
Julie: Ok.
Felicity: I thought we had a plan, you know? You were gonna go as Frankenstein.
Ben: Yeah. Sean decided we should all go as the Rat Pack. He's Frank Sinatra, and I'm Peter Lawford or something.
Sean: (to Felicity) Hey, Courtney Love, right?
Man: Hey Covington!
Ben: One second.
Ben comes down the stairs. Felicity looks at him for a second and walks off.
Elena walks through the crowd talking on the phone.
Elena: You know what Subway's number one seller is? Turkey, 12-inch on white, hold the mayo. You wanna know how I know this? Because this is what people keep asking me for. Noel, I don't care! Get your ass down here now! (slams the phone)
Tin Man: Excuse me?
Elena turns around.
Tin Man: (takes the phone) I was just about to check my messages.
He looks up to see Elena looking at him with interest.
Tin Man: I'm Blair.
She checks him out. Cut to Ben.
Ben is seen talking with the Pink Power Ranger -- NO NOT JULIE. Felicity sees Ben talking to the Ranger. Fed up, she storms towards them.
Felicity: We need to talk.
The Pink Ranger walks off.
Ben: What?
Felicity: What's going on with you?
Ben: Nothing. I'm just hanging out.
Felicity: I waited for you at the police station, and you never even showed up.
Ben: I had to set up for the party. What's the big deal?
Felicity: I guess nothing.
Ben walks off. Felicity watches him go. He heads for the Ranger. Sean backs off as Ben approaches. Frankenstein comes up to Felicity and offers her a drink. She takes a drink, and Frankenstein sorely attempts to dance.
Cut to outside.
Catwoman/Julie walks down the steel steps. Zack stands at the bottom with two drinks in hand. She sits, and he gives her a drink.
Julie: So, is your movie going ok?
Zack: Not really. Um...I'm sort of at an impasse. I--I interviewed this one woman, she's afraid of electricity. She won't touch a light switch or anything because she's afraid it might kill her.
Julie: Oh, my God. (laughs) How does she live?
Zack: Well, she's married to a guy whose not afraid of electricity, which is nice.
A beat.
Zack: So I -- I like your costume.
Julie: I like your hat.
Zack: Ah...it was my grandfathers.
Awkard silent moment. Zack moves in to kiss Julie. As he goes for the smooch....
Julie: Um....(gets up)
Zack: Oh, God.
Julie: You know, I think, I just gonna go back upstairs. Can I get you something.
Zack: Uh....maybe a noose.
Julie: Don't be stupid. (chuckles) Julie walks off, and Zack takes a seat on the stairs.
Cut to Andrew and Felicity at the drink table.
Andrew: Yeah, medicine is supposed to be about sick people, but come on without money, you're screwed. So then I thought -- plastic surgery-- boob jobs, tummy tucks..
Felicity: I carved that pumpkin.
Andrew: A practice like that is a cash cow. Have you thought about that?
Felicity: Can you hold this? I'm gonna go to the bathroom and throw up. Pardon me. (leaves)
Felicity makes her way through the crowd, passing between Elena and Blair dancing. Julie catches up with her.
Julie: Zack just kissed me.
Felicity: What?
Julie: And--and I freaked out.
Felicity: You did? You freaked out?
Julie: I blew it. I just freaked out, which is so unlike me.
Felicity: 'Cause I really need a bathroom.
Julie: Oh, my God. No. Go, Go.
Felicity, Ok. I mean, unless your not ok. And then I'll hold it.
Julie: No, no. I'm ok. I'm fine. Really. We can talk about this later.
Felicity: Thank you.
Felicity walks pass Julie. She makes her way to a door and open it.
Felicity: Oh, sorry.
She turns around and walks away. She sees another door that is cracked open. She looks in to see the Pink Power Ranger giving Ben big smooches! Felicity can't believe what she is seeing, and walks off.
Cut to streets side. Felicity leaves the party. She starts running, and as she come into focus, she can be seen crying.
INT. FELICITY’S ROOM
Someone knocks on her door, while she is face down in her bed crying. The door opens and Noel comes in. He is in Subway uniform with latex gloves and all.
Noel: Hey, what's wrong.
Felicity: (sits up) Nothing. I'm okay. I'm just.....can you just go away? I don't want anyone seeing me like this. It's too humilating.
Noel: Oh, come on. You can talk to me. It's okay. All right. I just want to help.
She turns and sits on the ground.
Felicity: You can't help.
Noel: (sits in front of her) Is it Ben?
Felicity: No. Yes. He...I saw him kissing the Pink Power Ranger.
Noel: You did? Ok... um...
Felicity: I'm just... have you ever felt like there's no solace in anything, like, whereever you turn you're just lost? I mean, I've never felt so lost in every conceivable way before. Ok, help me Go. Start.
Noel: Uh....all right. Well, um....ok, this is what I think. I think--I think we need to forget about Ben -- for the moment and -- and focus on you, ok?
Felicity: I--I don't think this is helping very much.
Noel: Well, I'm just getting started. Um, see this really awful thing just happened, and it's left a dark cloud hovering and--and it's made you feel, like, like your weak and vulenerable, but your forgetting something very important. You're forgetting who you are in the equation. Because-- because you're this really strong...and--and independent, and beautiful woman. And before you let yourself get caught up in the drama of the moment, you gotta know you're going to be fine. You're gonna be more then fine. You're--you're gonna be great, ok?
Felicity: You think?
Noel: I do.
Felicity barfs up in Noel's lap.
Noel: Oh, no! Ohh! Ughh!! That really changes my whole attitude about you.
Felicity: I'm so sorry!
Noel: No, it's ok. Um....I'm wearing gloves.
EPILOGUE
INT. ELENA’S ROOM
Noel knocks on her door.
Noel: Elena, it's Noel are you there?
Elena opens the door and partially gets out.
Noel: You're still asleep?
Elena: What's up?
Noel: I--I just wanna say I'm sorry.
Elena: Shhh!!
Noel looks around for a second.
Noel: (whispers) I'm sorry...and embarassed...and you have every right to be....(normal tone) Is someone in there?
Elena: (gritting her teeth) The Tin Man.
Noel: What?
Elena: His name is Blair.
Noel: The Tin Man's in your room?
Elena: Will you shut up?
Noel: Sure.
Elena: We just hung out and listened to music.
Noel: Fine. Whatever. Uh...just be careful, I, uh, hear he doesn't have a heart. (walks off smirking)
Elena: Yeah, very funny.
Noel: Have fun.
Elena goes back into her room.
Cut to Felicity going to class. She pauses and sees Ben. A guy goes up to Ben.
Ben: (to guy) Hi. (greets him)
Felicity comes up to Ben as the guy leaves.
Ben: Hey, how's it going?
Felicity: I know what you're doing.
Ben: Huh?
Felicity: You and I shared a moment the other night, and now you're freaked out, so you're blowing me off.
Ben: (smiles) What are you talking about?
Felicity: You invited me to that party.
Ben: Yes, and you came to my party.
Felicity: Do you know how stupid I felt in that Bride of Frankenstein costume?
Ben: Well, it's not like it wasn't Halloween.
Felicity: What were those 2 A.M. calls all about then?
Ben: Nothing. I was just worried about you.
Felicity: Yeah?
Ben: Yeah.
Felicity: No, you weren't you were worried about you. You were lonely and you were freaked out, and as soon as you got too close, you just turned off.
Ben: All right, what are you -- what are you saying to me?
Felicity: That the next time you need a friend at 2 A.M., call the Pink Power Ranger. (leaves)
Ben gets up and follows her. She sits down, and Ben confronts her.
Ben: You know what? Not everybody's like you , all right? Crazy-sensitive and always judging everybody.
Felicity: I don't always judge everybody. I always judge you.
Ben: Well, I can't....you know, I can't live up to that, all right. I'm a guy in college. If I want to make out with a--with a--Power Ranger, or a ghost, or a cheerleader, I can do that. You're not going to make me feel guilty about it, either. I mean, not everything has big meaning, ok. I mean, yes, yeah, we had a nice moment the other night, but so what! It doesn't mean anything.
Ben walks off. Julie turns around and looks at Felicity.
INT. DEAN & DELUCA
Cut to Dean and Deluca. Felicity brings a cup of coffee to a customer.
Felicity: (recording) So I had and epiphany, but it's probably really obvious to you. I've been acting insane, obsessed over a guy, who it turns out, is just a guy. And what I really need to do is just let go.
Cut to Zack and Ben playing Playstation.
Zack: I can't believe they didn't swipe your Playstation, man.
Ben: Yeah, I know. It's not mine.
Zack: So, what, you went out with Julie, a little. I heard that.
Ben: We really didn't go out. We just sort of hung out. Why?
Zack: I kissed her...and...(exhales) and she sort of shut me down. I wonder if I should give it another try. I mean, I don't even know if that's what she wants or not, so.....
Ben: I gotta take a walk....(gets up)
Zack: Yeah, I gotta go work on that movie. (follows)
They leave the apartment.
Cut to Zack working on his film. Julie sees him through the window, and comes in the room. She stands behind him.
Julie: Hey.
Zack: Hey. (she sits down) So, what's going on?
Julie: (nervous chuckle, a beat) You treat me like an actual person.
Zack: (confused) Aren't you? What?
Julie: Last night, when ---
Zack: I kissed you. I screwed up our relationship.
Julie: I really freaked out. And--and all of a sudden, I got--I got this chill. I just..I don't wanna mess up the thing that we have. Whatever it is.
Zack: Look, that's.....totally cool with me. I mean....you know, I was acting on this impluse, which normally I wouldn't have done. But I--I'm not the most experienced guy of all time.
Julie: Zack.
Zack: No, no. It's ok. I don't want to ruin things either. (Julie moves in) We're--we're just friends. That's--That's fine.
She kisses him.
Zack: Now what?
Julie: I don't know?
EXT. CENTRAL PARK
Ben sits on a bench, thinking.

Ben gets off the bench and heads off

Ben knocks on Felicity's door.

Noel comes down the hall, and pauses when he sees Ben
Lyrics: Out across this canyon.
Noel: She's not here.
Ben steps away from the door and looks at Noel.
Ben: Oh. Do you know where she is?
Lyrics: I'm asking you to be my true companion. Noel: Yeah.
Ben: (laughs) You wanna tell me?
Lyrics: True companion
Noel: She's a friend of mine.
Lyrics: True companion
Ben: Yeah, I know. I know that.
Noel: And I don't want to see her get hurt.
Ben: No. Of course not.
Noel: I'm not kidding.
Lyrics: So don't you dare try and walk away Ben: I know.

Felicity serves a customer.
Felicity: Thanks
Customer: Sure.

The manager is on the phone.
Manager: Ma, his name is not "that guy." It's Samuel.
Lyrics: And I'll take you home
Ben walks in.
Manager: From Brooklyn. I don't know.
Lyrics: In wild abandon
Manager: It's a Biblical name
Lyrics: Make love to you just like a true companion.
Ben: Hi.
Felicity looks at him and ignores him.
Lyrics: I got a true companion
Ben: Excuse me, Miss
Felicity continues working and ignoring him.

Ben: (pleaing) Come on, Felicity. I gotta talk to you.
Felicity goes to the cooler.
Ben: Just give me a couple of minutes, please?
She cleans the counter.
Ben: Ok, I want two coffees
Felicity glances at him, but continues to ignore him.
Ben: Hello? I'm a customer now. Can I have two coffee's please.
Felicity look at him.
Cut to Felicity and Ben sitting at a table.
Felicity: You know, my break's only 15 minutes.
Ben: Ok, then, I'll just jump in. I--I came here today because I wanted to apologize. And I wanted you to know that you were right. I did push you away. For some stupid reason...I have a hard time letting....people....whatever...(exhales) Especially people who make me nervous.
Felicity: I don't make you nervous.
Ben: (chuckles) Yeah, you do. Anyway, that's just a fact, it's part of who I am. So...(reaches into his pocket and lays a small gold box on the table) here.
Felicity looks at it, opens it, and picks it up. Reaching in, she slowly untangles a gold necklace. Ben nervously watches her.
Ben: I know it's not exactly like your grandmother's, but...and I was thinking, if you wanted to we could go back and look at some files. I mean, if you want to.
Felicity: Um...the detective said, that uh....the odds of catching anyone are--are pretty small.
Ben: Yeah, I know. I know. But still, it might be worth a look.
Felicity looks at the necklace.
Ben: Here let me. (hands him the necklace, Ben scooches toward her) Ok.
She leans her neck to him, and he tries to put it on her. He looses grip, and it falls into her lap.
Ben: Jeez.
Felicity: Oh.
Ben: Sorry. (they chuckle, he reaches for it) There.
Ben gets up and stands behind her to put the necklace on her.

Felicity nervously sits while Ben clasps the necklace.

Ben sits back down.

Sally: They do form a special bond. But eventually, the battle ends,

Camera pans back slowly, as Felicity and Ben talk.
Sally: And those who survive, they go home and try make sense of it all.

Sally: Until a few days ago,

Sally: I had planned not to tell Emmitt about John's death. It just seemed like too much for both of us.
Camera pans outside looking in, the refection of people walking by are seen in the refection.

Sally: Then I got your tape and it reminded me, that it's something I really need to do.
Lyrics: True companion
Sally: I guess we all have our own war stories,

Sally: but they're meant to be shared, they have to be, because these stories, they're what bring us together, and...they keep us alive.
